Dear Devotees and Friends of Radha Govind Dham New York
With profound grief, we inform you that Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj who was the fifth original Jagadguru in the last 5000 years, brought His visible pastimes on this earth to a close and left for the Divine Abode of Shree Radha Krishna, on November 15th, 2013.
Shree Maharajji as He was lovingly called by devotees all over the world was the embodiment of Radha Krishna bhakti and spent His entire life teaching and guiding souls to engage in selfless devotion to Radha Krishna.
As we grieve the physical departure of Shree Maharajji, the foremost authority of bhakti at the present time, Radha Govind Dham has decided to postpone the Diety Establishment Ceremony we previously announced for December 7 2013. Keeping in mind Shree Maharajji’s emphasis on the importance of satsang and kirtan, Radha Govind Dham New York will open its doors to public for the first time on that day and will remain open to serve as a center for Radha Krishna bhakti (devotion) as explained by the great Saints of Vrindavan and further expounded by Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj.

Govardhan Pooja will be celebrated the day after Diwali.
You can bring a special dish to offer to Govardhan Maharaj.
On this day, more than 51 dishes are prepared for offering Giriraj Maharaj. There will be kirtans glorifying Giriraj Maharaj in the Temple, along with a discourse and arti. Following the arti, there will be parikrama of Govardhan Hill. As we do parikrama from the Temple steps, we’ll sing bhajans and pads celebrating the greatness of Govardhan Hill and Shree Krishna’s pastimes with His Gwalbal friends. While showering flowers on Govardhan Hill, arti will be performed, after which we’ll sing a lively bhog as we offer Him a delicious meal of foods and sweets. Lunch prasad will be enjoyed by all those present. Bring your entire family to enjoy this lively celebration.
The Hindu festival of Govardhan Pooja commemorates a childhood leela of Shree Krishna. It is the day when Krishna convinced his father and the elders of his village to perform pooja of Govardhan hill instead of worshiping the celestial god Indra. All of the Brajwasis brought the food items which were to be offered to Indra, and offered them to Govardhan hill. There was a vast array of delicacies laid out at the base of Govardhan hill. To honor the faith of the Brajwasis, Krishna appeared on top of the hill in the form of Giriraj Maharaj (the personified form of Govardhan hill) and ate all of the food that had been offered. Then the Brajwasis performed parikrama (to circumambulate in a clockwise fashion) of Govardhan while singing its glories.
When Indra saw that the Brajwasis had been convinced by a “little boy” to stop worshiping Him, his pride was hurt and he wanted to assert his power (Krishna was 7 years old at the time of this leela). He made it rain torrentially for 7 days. In order to protect the Brajwasis from the downpour, Krishna lifted Govardhan hill on the little finger of His left hand and everyone took shelter under the mountain with Krishna. They all felt lucky to spend this time in close association with Krishna, and none of them felt hungry or tired. In the end, Indra realized that his power was nothing compared to Krishna, because Krishna is supreme God and Indra is only a celestial god who receives his power from Shree Krishna. To see the joyful reenactment of the this Govardhan Pooja, watch these highlights of a past celebration at Radha Madhav Dham.
At the age of 34, Shri Maharaj Ji gave a series of lectures over ten days to the 500 scholars of Kashi Vidvat Parishat. Shri Maharaj Ji spoke in classical Sanskrit, giving innumerable quotations from the Vedas, Puranas, Mahabharata, Ramayana etc. He presented a unique reconciliation of the varying philosophies of the four previous Jagadgurus, Spiritual Masters of the world; Adi Jagadguru Shri Shankaracharya, Jagadguru Shri Ramanujacharya, Jagadguru Shri Nimbarkacharya and Jagadguru Shri Madhavcharya.
A grand conference of Saints took place over fifteen days from 16-31 October 1955, organised by Shri Maharaj Ji himself. The event was attended by approximately seventy two scholars and spiritual personalities from across India, including Mahamahopadhyay Giridhar Sharma (President of Kashi Vidvat Parishat) and Neel Meghacharya. Shri Maharaj Ji was the official welcoming committee, serving the Saintly scholars himself, even escorting them to their assigned rooms and fanning them. Who can serve anyone the way Shri Maharaj Ji served those Saints!
In his welcoming address Shri Maharaj Ji made a request to all the Saints to answer a few simple questions concerning the reconciliation of the apparent contradictory doctrines in Hindu scripture. None of the scholars present replied. In fact, all of them became annoyed and announced that Shri Maharaj Ji himself should speak, though his name was not listed as such. Hearing his name being called, Shri Maharaj Ji all of a sudden took the stage as a speaker. This was the first time he had spoken publically; no one had ever seen him speak before this. For the duration of the Conference, Shri Maharaj Ji addressed the gathering for three hours every day.
The knowledge Shri Maharaj Ji revealed to the assembly was unbelievable! He gave thousands of quotations from the Vedas, Gita, Bhagavatam and from many other scriptures. People were astonished and spellbound at his profound and complete mastery of all the scriptures. The devotees who knew him before were amazed, as prior to this they had only seen him singing the glories of Lord Krishna, playing the dholak and shedding tears.
When Mahamahopadhyay Giridhar Sharma and Neel Meghacharya returned to Kashi, they highly praised Shri Maharaj Ji, but the other scholars could not believe that someone so young could have such knowledge. In fact, they interpreted such talk as mere exaggeration and decided that they should test Shri Maharaj Ji.
Radha Madhav Dham is the largest Hindu temple and ashram complex in the United States. With the Gracious blessing of Shri Jagadguru Kripalu Ji Maharaj, Radha Madhav Dham was established as the main ashram of Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat in the West.
Radha Madhav Dham is situated on a picturesque 220-acre property in the Hill Country south of Austin, Texas. The rolling land, blanketed by wildflowers in the spring, and beautified by the meandering stream Kalindi, rises to the highest point in Hays County at the top of Barsana Hill. The temple and ashram buildings are surrounded by charming gardens, walking paths, fountains and ponds. The many peacocks add a flourish of iridescent color to the surroundings, and their calls echo across the fields as they announce themselves to all passers-by. The delightful landscape lends itself to leisurely walks and meditation in its serene holy places.
Designed as a representation of the holy land of Braj in India where Shri Radha Rani and Shri Krishna appeared about 5,000 years ago, all the important holy places of Braj like Govardhan, Radha Kund, Prem Sarovar, Shyam Kuti and Mor Kuti are represented in Radha Madhav Dham, where the natural stream, named Kalindi, represents the Yamuna river of Vrindaban. Anyone who visits Radha Madhav Dham experiences the same Divine serenity that was found in the ancient ashrams of the Saints of Vrindaban. It has become a place of pilgrimage for millions of devotees living in the western world.
Shri Raseshwari Radha Rani Temple
The centerpiece of Radha Madhav Dham is Shri Raseshwari Radha Rani Temple. This temple, with its magnificent architecture and exquisitely designed shrine with elegantly decorated Deities of Radha and Krishna, is the only temple in the world that represents the true nikunj darshan of Radha Krishna as described in the Radhikopnishad and the writings of the Great Masters of Vrindavan. Sitting in such a temple, while chanting the names of Radha Krishna during satsang, gives a thrill of bhakti that must be experienced.
Every year, over 50,000 people visit Radha Madhav Dham. We welcome them into our unique accommodations where overnight guests stay and take part in the delicious vegetarian meals. Many make use of our rental for family events and private functions. Many come back again and again to enjoy the devotional living experience that Radha Madhav Dham provides.
