Janmashtami at Prem Mandir 2013

Radha Madhav Dham, USA

Radha Madhav Dham is the largest Hindu temple and ashram complex in the United States. With the Gracious blessing of Shri Jagadguru Kripalu Ji Maharaj, Radha Madhav Dham was established as the main ashram of Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat in the West.RMD 1

Radha Madhav Dham is situated on a picturesque 220-acre property in the Hill Country south of Austin, Texas. The rolling land, blanketed by wildflowers in the spring, and beautified by the meandering stream Kalindi, rises to the highest point in Hays County at the top of Barsana Hill. The temple and ashram buildings are surrounded by charming gardens, walking paths, fountains and ponds. The many peacocks add a flourish of iridescent color to the surroundings, and their calls echo across the fields as they announce themselves to all passers-by. The delightful landscape lends itself to leisurely walks and meditation in its serene holy places.

Designed as a representation of the holy land of Braj in India where Shri Radha Rani and Shri Krishna appeared about 5,000 years ago, all the important holy places of Braj like Govardhan, Radha Kund, Prem Sarovar, Shyam Kuti and Mor Kuti are represented in Radha Madhav Dham, where the natural stream, named Kalindi, represents the Yamuna river of Vrindaban. Anyone who visits Radha Madhav Dham experiences the same Divine serenity that was found in the ancient ashrams of the Saints of Vrindaban. It has become a place of pilgrimage for millions of devotees living in the western world.

Shri Raseshwari Radha Rani Temple

The centerpiece of Radha Madhav Dham is Shri Raseshwari Radha Rani Temple. This temple, with its magnificent architecture and exquisitely designed shrine with elegantly decorated Deities of Radha and Krishna, is the only temple in the world that represents the true nikunj darshan of Radha Krishna as described in the Radhikopnishad and the writings of the Great Masters of Vrindavan. Sitting in such a temple, while chanting the names of Radha Krishna during satsang, gives a thrill of bhakti that must be experienced.RMD 2

Every year, over 50,000 people visit Radha Madhav Dham. We welcome them into our unique accommodations where overnight guests stay and take part in the delicious vegetarian meals. Many make use of our rental for family events and private functions. Many come back again and again to enjoy the devotional living experience that Radha Madhav Dham provides.

Education

At the tender age of thirteen, he left his village Mangarh to study, attending Peeli Kothi Sanskrit School in Chitrakoot in 1935, where he sat intermediate Sanskrit Grammar examinations. He completed his degree in Sanskrit Grammer, Vyakaranacharya, in Kashi the following year in 1936.

In 1937 Shri Maharaj Ji went to Indore (Mohu) where he sat the intermediate examinations for Ayurved at Shtang Ayurvedic College. In 1942, Shri Maharaj Ji returned to Indore and completed a poetry examination and received the degree Kayatirtha. In 1943, Shri Maharaj Ji received the degree of Ayurved Acharya from Delhi Vidyapeeth and Sahitya Acharya (Master of Literature) from Calcutta Vidyapeeth in 1944. Both these degrees were awarded to him in Indore. Due to his exceptional ability, Shri Maharaj Ji completed the equivalent of many years of study in Indore in just 2 ½ years. The most remarkable aspect of his recitation is that he never studied scripture. In addition, all this study was taking place while he was giving a constant stream of four day, fifteen day, one month and even four month akhanda (non-stop) sankirtan programmes.

Childhood

Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj (lovingly addressed as Shri Maharaj Ji by all) appeared on this earth in October 1922 on the auspicious full moon night of Sharat Purnima in Mangarh, a tiny village in Northern India. His mother Bhagvati Devi and father Shri Lalita Prasad Tripathi named their child Ram Kripalu. From childhood he showed signs of divinity and was a most precocious student. According to the custom of the times, his parents got him married to the daughter of a learned scholar hailing from the nearby village of Leelapur in 1933. Despite being married, Shri Maharaj Ji often left home for long intervals.

A short Biography of Kripalu ji Maharaj

kripalu_ji_maharajThe Supreme Spiritual Master of the world, the Descension of Divine Love, the undisputed authority of Vedic religion and the reconciler of all spiritual doctrines, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj truly is the personified form of divine love.

His natural scholarliness inspires trust in even the greatest intellectuals, while his tremendous love, causeless grace and endless compassion melts the hearts and inspires devotional love in all who come near him. His satsang is divinely exhilarating and unbelievably joyous.

Every association with him is like being in the company of your dearest friend who is urging you every moment, both from within and without, to go closer and closer and closer to God…
